It is very difficult to find out if Kindle has a mail tool, or can be used to write MS documents. The device looks so simple I think I could get my Dad to try using it, but he needs the above tools. It looks like these are not available yet, or at least, the publicity does not make this clear.
A daylit colour screen would be nice if it can be done, but one of the main attractions to Kindle is its low power consumption and battery life. It is not worth compromising this. I used to have a Psion Series 3a. This was so portable and also had excellent battery life. This really is a major strength of the Kindle, and should be guarded at all costs.

The kindle is so simple to use - it's a fantastic product. The only way they could improve it is by giving it a colour screen, while keeping the non-glare surface. Not sure if that's even possible.

I'm not great with technology, so I needed to buy something basic to read ebooks on. I bought my Kindle at Best Buy UK and the friendly Geek Squad team in the Croydon store explained all the functions to me in a free 15 minute tutorial. I use it all the time now and it's easier to use than a computer. I love it :)

I would really like email on my kindle. It is the key thing that is missing. I think an imap email client would be ideal, since almost all email services support imap.

Or in my case a port of mutt over to kindle, that would do me fine and would fit perfectly with limited resources on kindle.

I should have asked this question before i purchased my Kindle, But hind site being 20/20 here it is. Will Kindle be able to supply me a book that is not on your list of books? I've searched for a couple of book already and they are are available on Kindle" Daughters of Sultana By Jean Sasson" is one. I'm sure that there will be others, I would hope that at some point i will be able to purchase the books that i am interested in. I'm looking forward to receiving my Kindle soon and I'm sure i will have many hours and days of care free reading. Thank you, I will be standing by for a response

I also thought very early into the Kindle experience, how useful it would be to do e-mail with, for virtually the same reasons you put forth. Thanks for detailing the technical hurdles, even if they make it look as though the eventuallity is unlikely. Perhaps Sudoko won't be so difficult....
